On 12-13 May 2023, LOWINFOOD will be present at the Scottish Skipper Expo 2023 in Aberdeen (Scotland) to present the stakeholder dialogue to reduce fish losses and waste.

The James Hutton Institute LOWINFOOD team’s purpose in attending the Scottish Skipper Expo is to further collaborate within the fish and seafood sector and promote the adoption of innovative measures to reduce fish losses and waste. Additionally, the team aims to showcase any relevant services and innovations that their stakeholder organizations are developing to address this issue and connect with potential stakeholders attending the event who could benefit from these solutions.

Apart from the experiences of Leroma and Sedna, which are a project partner and a member of the Innovation Platform, respectively, some other experiences the team will be showcasing are those of the Icelandic Ocean Cluster (IOC), where industry and innovators successfully got together to work towards 100% use of fish resources. Or the efforts of Macduff Shellfish in preventing any shellfish waste from going to landfill. In line with this, the Hutton LOWINFOOD team is supporting the efforts of the Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre (IBioIC), also part of the stakeholder dialogue, to promote a sustainable fish supply chain through collaboration
