Children learning about food waste at school in Uppsala

In the spring of 2022, six schools in Uppsala focused on teaching pupils about consumption and its impact on the environment. Two efforts were made:

️1. A scale was put next to the waste bin to measure how much leftover was thrown away. The pupils could also give feedback to the kitchen on why they threw the leftovers.

‍2. An educational concept where the teachers held classes about food, environment and food waste integrated into the ordinary curriculum.

The pupils were very involved and committed to contributing to saving the climate. They also brought their newly found knowledge home to their families.
