On 11 March 2024, the LOWINFOOD partner The James Hutton Institute offered a webinar as part of the BioEconomy Week Scotland 2024, a week of events and activities devoted to celebrating the innovative, biobased, solutions being discovered and developed in Scotland.

This webinar explored how better coordination and collaboration along the fish supply chain and with innovators can lead to a more profitable and sustainable use of material flows. The webinar was an opportunity to learn about social and technical innovations against loss and waste in the fish and seafood supply chain by expert panellists.

The diversity of the sector and the difficulty of sharing information on wasted material were highlighted during the webinar. As well as good ideas, the need for more funding and the viability of products in the marketplace was emphasised. Different experiences of collaboration have been presented which will be key in the future as there is no lack of knowledge and activity in Scotland, what is needed is to work together.
