The Universitaet fuer Bodenkultur Wien (BOKU) represented by the Institute of Waste Management and Circularity has established a sound position among waste management experts on national and international level. It evaluates waste management objectives of political and legal relevance with regard to their short- and long-term environmental and economic impact. Technologies for sound treatment and disposal of waste are developed based on natural processes and methods for the assessment of waste management measures and techniques. Other main fields of research at the BOKU are biological treatment methods, inorganic wastes, incineration residues and waste logistics.

Role in LOWINFOOD: BOKU is leader of WP1 “Evaluation of innovations in a multi-actor approach”. Within this work package, it is leading tasks 1.1 and 1.4 and contributing to 1.2. BOKU leads task 2.2 and participates to 5.5, and is also involved in WP6 and WP7 together with all other partners.
