Uppsala Kommun is a public administration having a local self-government and a political organization with directly elected decision makers. In 2018 Uppsala received the global award One planet city Challenge. In 2017 it was also rewarded as the best municipality in Sweden on adapting to climate change. Uppsala municipality works with public catering in schools, preschools and elderly care homes. Uppsala food service (Måltidsservice) has 370 employees and serves 45 000 meals per day. Uppsala municipality strives to reduce food waste and food waste is registered and compiled twice a year in schools and preschools.
Role in LOWINFOOD: The main contribution of Uppsala Kommun is expected in WP5, where it participates to task 5.3 and 5.4. Uppsala Kommun is also involved in WP1, WP6 and WP7 together with all other partners.
